Conductress severely mistreated – NS wants action from government – nrc.nl

A conductress of the NS tonight so badly beaten in her face that she needs surgery for various fractions. That made the NS today on its website. Following the incident, the NS and the unions in the short term with the government want to talk about additional security.

The main conductress was last night working on her final round on the route between Schiphol and Hoofddorp when in the first class encountered an annoying passenger. Moments later, she saw the man on the platform after the woman can not remember anymore. The driver found her later around 00:40 hours on the ground on the platform. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man, but it is still unclear whether this is the culprit.



Aggression order of the day

The NS writes on the website that it together with the unions as soon as possible with ministers of Security and Justice (VVD) and Plasterk of Interior (PvdA) and Mansfield State of Infrastructure and Environment (PvdA) wants to sit down. Goal is to the government to get more support in the juniors of violence on the track. NS says investing annually yourself 100 million in countering aggression, including manning a security center 24 hours a day.

At the end of last year did rail union VVMC research into the degree of aggression that railway staff facing. A survey of 873 members found that 94 percent of all employees to sometimes get with aggression. Two thirds of the respondents indicated that they had been victims of physical violence, such as spitting and pushing. Threats, intimidation and screaming belong under investigation to the order of the day.



Fire Letter

In early 2014 it has also been through the NS and the unions with Minister Opstelten talked about the increasing aggression against train staff after the railway had written an urgent letter on the railroad violence. In March of last year, the railway started a public campaign, titled “Hands off our colleagues,” to make travelers aware of the problems with aggression.



The increase in violence blamed the parties include the merging of the railway police in the National Police. Opstelten denied when the railroads received less attention. He also said something not to cut back on the number of police officers present at and around stations and police posts at the stations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht.
