The last time the main index of Beursplein 5 closed above 500 points, was on January 7, 2008. Not long after, the American financial crisis barrel on the European economy. The highest level ever recorded on September 5, 2000, when it reached the AEX at 703.18 points.

ECB

The ECB buys since March of this year monthly for EUR 60 billion in government loans and packaged business loans by banks in the euro area, and in any event do until September 2016.

The central bank hopes to boost the economy and low inflation to screw up. Because there is such a big buyer in the market for government and corporate bonds, investors seek refuge in stocks which prices rise.

This may entail risks because high prices have detached from the underlying value of a company

Bubbles

Jeroen Dijsselbloem, finance minister, warned earlier this week called for bubbles in the stock market. “That’s for the small investor is always a risk, so some caution is in place,” said the minister.

Klaas Knot, president of De Nederlandsche Bank, said the purchasing program of the ECB disrupts the financial markets. “Long-term and significant distortions like the buyout program, will have a price in the future. In fact, the last financial crisis began with such disruption,” said Knot.
