Shell gets this week permission from the US government about drilling in waters resume Alaska. That reported the British newspaper The Guardian today.

According to the newspaper, Shell gets the permission Wednesday. Interior Minister Sally Jewell then ratifies expected a positive recommendation from supervisor Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.

Shell made late January already announced this year to return to the waters off Alaska to conduct exploratory drilling there . Initially it was planned to resume work in the summer of 2014, but an indictment of the US government threw a spanner in the works. Shell ran in 2012 against major problems with drilling in the waters around Alaska and the operation since been suspended.

The decision of Shell to weather around Alaska to get started, fell in January poor at Greenpeace. “This is the time for Shell to stay away for good this vulnerable area,” the environmental group at that time labeled the intention of Shell as “disappointing and very unwise.”
