RBS attracts almost entirely from Netherlands – Fondsnieuws.nl

                  Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) will continue to reduce its international presence. With an almost complete withdrawal from the Netherlands disappears the vast majority of the approximately 600 jobs.

This allowed trade union CNV know to news agency ANP. Earlier, Bloomberg financial news service based on an anonymous source that the British bank wants to withdraw from two-thirds of the countries in which it operates

According to the CNV would RBS intend to have reduced the Dutch office in 2018 to between ten and fifteen employees.

RBS later confirmed across media that the years 550 to 580 Dutch jobs lost go and forced redundancies are inevitable.

As part of the consortium with Fortis and Banco Santander, RBS took over in 2007, the worldwide activities in the field of investment banking for ABN Amro Bank.



Reorganizations

When the credit crisis hit, Fortis collapsed under the burden of financing and had to be rescued by the Dutch and Belgian governments. RBS also had to ask for help with the British government.

The British bank is still majority owned by the state. The Dutch branch of ABN Amro and Fortis was fully nationalized. In reorganizations at banks in recent years thousands of jobs lost.
