A night’s sleep in a hotel is getting more expensive. The global hotel prices rose last year for the fifth consecutive year. This is evident from the presented today by Hotels.com Hotel Price Index.

Average prices went for a room last year by 3 percent. In particular in North America, they shot in the air. There, guests had to count down 5 percent compared to 2013. Latin America, where the world championship took football for many visitors, recorded an increase of 2 percent.

The rise in the prices of hotels depends on attracting of the economy. Worldwide attracted more than 1.1 billion people out for a trip abroad, set Hotels.com. That amounts to five percent more travelers than in 2013.

hotels had their prices lower still sharply during the financial crisis in 2008 and 2009. According Hotels.com is the global prices now back at about the same level as in 2008.

In the Netherlands counted hotels last year taken by the bank 2 percent more per night. In the capital, prices went even 4 percent. Amsterdam to remain the destination where travelers paid the highest average: 141 euros. In other major cities, including Rotterdam, The Hague and Maastricht, hotels were on the contrary slightly cheaper
