The Dutch Railways have to pay a fine of € 5.5 million, because the carrier in 2013 and 2014 performance agreements with the government has fulfilled insufficient. ProRail was fined € 75,000 imposed on 2014. This has Wilma Mansfield State (Infrastructure and Environment) decided.

In 2014, 92% of travelers arrived on time. This is an increase compared to 2013 (90%). Yet travelers were dissatisfied with the punctuality of trains. However, their views on the travel information in trains and at stations improved compared to the previous year. In 2014, travelers feel safer in trains and at stations. They found the chance of a seat, however small, were also trains in rush too busy. Additionally, the opportunity was too small they encountered a conductor on the train. 2014 Mansfield NS explains why the maximum annual fine of € 2.75 million

Mansfield has shown that NS addressing crowded trains should be a priority of the carrier. To avoid crowded trains, NS late last year deployed additional measures to spread travelers better and on trains. NS also investing in new equipment to address the crowds, especially in the morning.
