Raid at HSBC in Switzerland – criminal investigation started – nrc.nl

Swiss investigative services this morning raided the Swiss branch of the British bank HSCB in Geneva. Justice has launched a criminal investigation into the allegations of money laundering and the active help of tax evasion by wealthy clients.

The case came last week through various international newspapers revealed. Involved journalists include The Guardian , Le Monde and True based their publications on secret bank details where they lay their sleeves to know tens of thousands accounts at HSBC Private

Bank. There sat between accounts of international criminals, arms dealers and dictators. The leaked launder funds would have a size of converted more than 100 billion euros.

The Swiss Public Prosecutor’s this morning in a statement that the criminal investigation could spread to individual officers of the bank. HSBC himself wanted told Reuters not respond to the raid in Geneva.

Last week, HSBC recognized that there were mistakes in the past made by the Swiss branch of the company, partly because the internal monitoring of the end nineties purchased Swiss subsidiary. The launder affair leaked last week played in the years to 2007.
