At home in his hometown of Monte Carlo is the richest man in Italy, creator of Nutella, Tic Tac, Mon Cherie, Kinder Surprise and Fererro Rocher, deceased at the age of 89.
Nutella, a product that was born out of necessity, is currently one of the best-selling chocolate products in the world. Every 3 seconds is sold somewhere in the world a jar of Nutella.
The origin of Nutella is in WWII. Since the cocoa was scarce in those days, Michele’s father mixed cocoa with hazelnuts to make a paste. After Michele in 1949, the bakery in Italy over had taken he knew of Nutella to create a global brand which is currently being sold annually 365 million pounds.
It not only remained with Nutella, Michele Ferrero was also the creator of Tic Tac, Mon Cherie, Kinder Surprise and Fererro Rocher. Sales of these products, just like Nutella enjoy a worldwide reputation, Michele yielded an estimated wealth of over 20 billion euros. With this, he was the richest man in Italy.
Michele Ferrero got in 1997 from the company, leaving the control of his empire from then on to his two sons. Since then lived Michele Ferrero in Monte Carlo.
