The European Central Bank (ECB) has the maximum that emergency aid Greek banks may be granted increased by 3.3 billion euros. That says a source at the ECB Reuters. The ECB submitted today about the modest increase. The Greek central bank wanted 10 billion.

The total size of the so-called Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA) would therefore be increased to 68.3 billion euros. This support can be provided by the central bank of a euro country, in this case that of

Greece. Last week, the ECB would be the size of the support program for Greece have already increased by 5 billion.

With the increase in Greek banks get more air. More and more customers get their money from the bank by the financial uncertainty. Germany resisted actually against the slight increase. Without the increase in the ceiling, the Greek banks would be forced to limit the amount that customers can take their pick. With the step of the ECB Greek banks can hold out another week without getting in trouble
