ECT, the largest container company in the port of Rotterdam, is suspected of market manipulation. The Competition Authority Consumer & amp; Market (ACM) last summer raided the dominant stevedore. That report different initiates the FD.
The container terminal operator would be guilty of it for towing barges hires self to transport cargo to and from the hinterland.
Barges chartered for ECT’s special service ‘European Gateway Services’ often have to make way for private ships of ECT. Thus the stevedore would distort competition. Several inland companies do the opposite FD complained about the preferential treatment received competitors if they are chartered by ECT.
