Sales of new cars in the Netherlands in 2014 decreased by 6.9 percent to 387 835 pieces. That the industry organizations BOVAG, RAI Association and the DRC, Central Office Information Mobility announced today.
Like last year, the decrease was dampened by a little sprint in the last month of the year. This was mainly due to the growing demand for compact, fuel-efficient cars, due to increases in the purchase tax BPM by January 1, 2015.
Despite the cautious rally in the last month is 2014 in the books as the one after worst sales year since 1969, reported knowledge Aumacon desk. Only in 2009 the propensity was even smaller
. Slight growth expected in 2015
For 2015, expect BOVAG and RAI slight growth to 400 thousand new cars. Especially in the last months of the year, a flood is expected from the enterprise market, because of the changes to the taxable income as of 1 January 2016. Aumacon think that next year 390 thousand cars are brought to the man.
According to the trade associations has been a difficult year in 2014, which has not benefited from the slightly increasing consumer confidence. Despite the disappointing sales the total vehicle fleet has grown in the Netherlands to record with nearly 8.2 million passenger cars.
Volkswagen was again the most popular brand. The German automaker had a market share of 11 percent. Peugeot followed with a market share of 9.5 percent. Renault (barely 8 percent) completed the top 3
