Apple sold 74.5 million iPhones in the last quarter of 2014 – NU.nl

That the company announced on Tuesday. The company always does well during the holidays, but never sold so many smartphones.

According to Apple CEO Tim Cook was the demand for Apple products “has never been so great.” The iPhone 6 was sold more than the iPhone 6 Plus, but the exact distribution is not disclosed.

It was mainly the iPhones that did well. The iPad sales decreased by 17.7 percent to 21.4 million, compared with 26 million a year ago. The number of Macs sold increased by 14.58 per cent to 5.5 million.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have ensured that more Android users have switched to iPhones, compared with the previous three years, says Apple CEO Tim Cook. There are now more than one billion iOS devices sold. Billionth device was sold in November, and was a 64 GB iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple turned in the fourth quarter revenue of $ 74.6 billion, an increase of

as much as 29.51 percent compared to sales from the same period last year. Some 69 percent of revenue comes from sales of iPhones. Also, Apple’s profit is soaring, amounting to $ 18 billion; an increase of 37.4 percent compared to last year.

The company also expects good figures in the first quarter of 2015. Apple targeting a turnover of 55 to 55 billion dollars, compared with 45.6 billion a year earlier.



Apple Watch

During the discussion of the quarterly figures made CEO Tim Cook also known that the announced Apple Watch will be delivered in April. An exact date is not known, and it is not known whether that date applies for the Netherlands.
