US Senate approves for controversial pipeline – The Standard

The US Senate on Thursday put on green light for the construction of the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline. The proposal was approved by 62 votes against 36. Earlier, on January 9, also had the House of Representatives approved the construction of the oil pipeline between Canada and the United States.

Yet the oil pipeline yet not immediately. As US President Barack Obama had already announced that it will

use its veto. Obama hesitates for a long time about approval for Keystone, mainly because of opposition from environmental groups who oppose the pipeline. The project has been delayed by about six years. Through Keystone crude oil from the tar sands must fields of Canada be transported to refineries in the southern United States.
