The unions CNV and FNV and some MPs are critical of the proposal by the CPB to reduce the unemployment benefit. The CNV calls it a crumb.

Today CPB published a report in which they recommended to bring unemployment down to tackle the high unemployment rate among the elderly . Despite the efforts of the government to get older faster to work, CPB proposes to introduce more “fundamental reforms”. They propose to make employment protection less dependent on the length of employment. They also want to reduce the number of age-related regulations in collective agreements. Forty percent of the long-term unemployed are older than fifty years.

Apparent Solution

The unions do not agree with the recommendations of CPB. Maurice Limmen of CNV enrolled or identified in the analysis of the CPB, but stresses that older people have a big problem if they become unemployed. The solution relies on the CPB, he rejects.

“We do this because the unemployment should be a good income provision. A facility that provides security and that does not slowly tightened the screws. “

Ton Heerts FNV opposes the plan of the CPB. The union does raise the government to work towards the long-term unemployment.

“This unemployment is so structurally that a large group of people wander off to help. And do you solve absolutely not by as CPB also proposes to cut even in the WW, the income of people who are already struggling to find work. And since when giving a planning so publicly this type of advice about the labor market? “
