Record Penalty threatens to General Motors’ – nrc.nl

Car manufacturer General Motors (GM) will be a record fine overhead due to the concealment of a technical fault. Reported that the US newspaper New York Times .

It is expected to be fined more than $ 1.2 billion (over 1 billion), reports news agency Reuters, so far the highest fine in the industry. Carmaker Toyota got that was imposed last year.

Negotiations between General Motors and the authorities on the full amount to be paid, however, are still underway. The outcome of these negotiations is expected this summer.
