Dutch sought last year more professional help to solve their debt problems. Approximately 92,000 people knocked in 2014 to a debt counselor, as association NVVK reports published today in the annual figures. A year earlier were at the NVVK connected rescuers 89,000 requests for professional support.
Although the number of people in debt is increasing again, the increase is less than in previous years. In 2013, the number of people seeking help because 5,000 higher than a year earlier and in 2012 was itself was an increase of 8,000 people. Especially those with low incomes struggling with debt.
In addition, the number of people seeking help also their average debt was higher than in previous years. On average, the customers of the rescuers faced with 38,500 euros in arrears, over 2 percent more than in 2013. But here too the increase is less spectacular than previous years: in 2013 the average debt still rose by 12.5 percent
That debt and the number of debtors is still increasing, while the economy picks up again, coming under the trade by unemployment, austerity income support measures and the increase in expenses in the field of housing and care. These developments particularly affect people with low incomes, according NVVK.
