Ballast Nedam is in talks with several foreign parties about a takeover or merger. The construction company – with three thousand employees one of the largest in the Netherlands – already suffers a loss while

This reports the company this morning on the site.. No parties mentioned by name, but one of the interested parties had already reported last year to take over the infrastructure activities of Ballast Nedam. The company stressed that the outcome of the talks is uncertain.

Earlier this month presented the annual figures Ballast Nedam 2014. It showed that the construction company had suffered a loss of 103 million euros. Although there were profit warnings given, the loss proved worse than expected. The company first described the figures as “dramatic.”

The company mainly suffer from a number of projects that are more expensive than budgeted. Thus, the widening of the A15 alone led to a depreciation of 100 million euros. Ballast Nedam – and some other relevant contractors – had mistaken the complexity of the 1.5 billion euro project
