KPN has for years been the target of espionage by the German Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND), in cooperation with the US NSA. Thursday was the Austrian MP Peter Pilz in Brussels publish a list showing dozens of Dutch data connections that are drained between 2004 and 2008.
It was a priority of NSA intelligence service in 2005. It will contain at least 71 Dutch data connections, of which the majority of KPN. The list also includes links from Belgium. According to business daily De Tijd it going there for 15 bled cables.

The revelations on Thursday following the news from Pilz last week. The politician took out the data cables from the Netherlands for years under the magnifying glass of the NSA layers. Pilz revealed that the DNB and commissioned by the US espionage activities in these cables. That would have been between 2004 and 2008 during the bugging operation Eikonal. Both intelligence services were at that time with the data traffic to the Netherlands, Austria and France have observed.
All connections were tapped by one of the largest Internet hubs worldwide, DE-CIX in Frankfurt. These include in particular fiber optic connections, which are used by large corporations and agencies.

KPN is taking the matter seriously. The telecom company has received from Pilz list of data connections and announced to set up an investigation into the spying. KPN takes several weeks to be doing. At present the company has no idea who his spying. On the list are a total of 255 data connections in dozens of European and non-European countries.
Ronald Plasterk, Minister of the Interior, wrote Tuesday a letter to parliament claiming that there “is no evidence exist for the German bugging in the Netherlands. Member of Parliament Linda Voortman (GroenLinks) is because the revelations of Pilz requested a debate with Plasterk.
