The number of people on welfare has increased in the first quarter of this year by 9,000 to a total of 443,000. The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced this today.
The increase was greater than that in the last quarter of last year. The introduction of the participation Act in January there hangs the CBS cooperates.
With the participation Act come only young people who are permanently and totally disabled are eligible for a Wajong benefit. The other young disabled people are entitled to assistance if they meet the conditions.
The introduction of participation Act provides an additional stream disabled young people to help. CBS can not say how large this group is. In the first quarter of a year is usually the number of people on welfare on balance, the so-called winter effect.
So, the labor market recovery is not visible in the assistance numbers. By a greater distance from the labor market find people on welfare less quickly a new job.
On an annual decline the increase.
