Strongest growth in consumer spending in four years – Financieele Dagblad (Registration)

Consumers February 2 4% spending on goods and services than in February 2014. This is the largest increase in four years, reports the Central Bureau of Statistics Wednesday. Consumer confidence has declined slightly in April compared to March, according to CBS.

Consumers spent more in February mainly to gas clothing and home furnishings. Consumption figures are adjusted for price changes and changes in the number of shopping days.

Gas, clothes and home furnishings

Because it was colder in February 2015 than in February 2014, consumers will consume more gas than a year earlier. Because of this, the expenditure on other goods, including energy, 7.2% higher. Consumers spent 4.1% more in February on durable goods than a year earlier. They spent more especially on clothes and home furnishings. CBS reported last Wednesday that all clothing stores in February for the first time in half a year had converted more than a year ago.
