Netherlands gives five million to an investment fund that was established to promote economic recovery in the African countries affected by Ebola. Development minister Lilianne Ploumen for Development and Foreign Trade (PvdA) said yesterday in Washington.

The fund, which was set up by the World Bank, had previously promised all support from Russia, Japan, Norway and Denmark. The aim is the economy of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia to give a helping hand. The three countries are the hardest hit by the virus, which in March last year began to spread. According to the World Health Organization has the infectious disease now claimed more than 10,000 lives in West Africa. Ebola now seems to have waned, but the virus has not disappeared.
