Almost everywhere economic growth – Gemeente.nu

In almost all provinces in 2014, there was no economic growth

This has the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced. Only in the provinces of Groningen and Friesland caused a decrease in the production of natural gas for shrinkage. The Dutch economy as a whole grew by 0.9 percent in 2014.

In the province of Groningen, the strong decrease in natural gas production for a contraction of 7.3 percent. Because 2014 was exceptionally warm, less gas was consumed and pumped less gas. The economic growth in Friesland was negatively affected by the mining. Excluding mining was in Groningen and Friesland experienced growth of 1.3 and 0.4 percent, respectively.

The lag economic development of the Dutch provinces, without mineral extraction, close together. But Flevoland had met2,2 percent, the highest economic growth. This was mainly due to growth in the leased car industry which has a strong presence in this

region and the strong growth of agriculture. Other provinces with above average growth of 1.7 percent were Brabant and Utrecht. In North Brabant grew especially the (machine) industry and the province of Utrecht benefited from the strong growth of the information and communication service in the city of Utrecht. Zealand experienced a growth of 0.6 percent, after Groningen and Friesland, the lowest growth rate in the Netherlands. By a falling demand was made less fertilizer and also shrank the petrochemical industry.

The four major cities all showed above-average growth. With a growth of 1.8 percent Utrecht stood out, thanks to strong growth in the information and communication service. Amsterdam had the lowest with 1.3 percent growth in the four major cities because the financial institutions shrank in 2014.
