Netherlands awaits new European retrospective of potentially 200 million – nrc.nl

Again Netherlands will have to pay an additional tax on the contribution to the European Union, up to 200 million euros. Writes Dijsselbloem Minister (Finance, Labour) this morning in a letter to parliament.

With a renewed calculation of the size of the Dutch economy since 2011, by the Central Bureau of Statistics, Netherlands will not only structurally to pay a higher fee to Europe, but also retroactive reassessment. Across the ANP Dijsselbloem said in a comment:

“On one hand, a higher gross national income in itself

Opposition party SP reacts outraged at the new setback for Finance. MP Merkies told the ANP:

“It is ridiculous that we have to pay back 200 million euros, after we already had a retrospective of 642 million . It can not be that we need to pay more because we with our statistical office being the best boy in class? I will ask for clarification on the minister here. “
