If a major failure occurs unexpectedly than count people that they still remain accessible to their family, friends or relations. Congratulations to the three providers for the fact that they now make it possible for their millions of customers. For the Dutch economy, it is vital that people and businesses will remain accessible. “
No extra charge for customers
As of now, the calls are temporarily taken over by other providers at a large prolonged outage. KPN, T-Mobile and Vodafone have agreed that the emergency operation in case the fault is expected to last longer than three days and 500,000 customers affected in an area. When customers call in a major disruption via another network and SMS and will be charged no extra cost. Data traffic is not accepted. Research has shown that this requires high investment costs.
World premiere
In April 2012 there was a fire place in a network center in Rotterdam. It took time, almost a week before the 2G network was completely restored. More than a million customers during this period were not accessible or less mobile.
