OOSTERHOUT – The bankruptcy of Thebes Household Care BV beats like a bomb to municipalities in Central and West Brabant. Councillor Marian Janse van Oosterhout the congregation responds shocked. “That was hard, we knew, but we did not expect so much.”
Janse calls it “very much” for employees and their clients. “Especially right before Christmas.”
Oosterhout, until January 1, a contract with Thebes for domestic help. After January 1, Oosterhout deletes the help and need people in the church itself hiring individuals. There, they receive fees from the municipality.

Thebes calls this type of constructions, the ‘death knell’ for the Household Care BV. Janse understands that the municipality Thebes difficult. “It’s been known for a while that the government will cut forty percent. It also does not entirely unexpected.”
The municipality has little choice. “I think we have no choice in Oosterhout. Such a reduction in the budget is not the only change. We can not afford as a municipality to collect all discounts of the empire. That we do not get bijgepast”, so Janse explains.

Janse is now particularly concerned about the delivery of care in December and January. “We had asked the three organizations who care yielded a month to sign. They did that all except Thebes. Now I understand why.”
The church is now pressure to seek solutions. Because Thebes refused to sign, Oosterhout was already in talks with other organizations. “We look for good solutions to the clients.”
How will that be fixed?
Tilburg is the largest municipality in the area of Thebes and the bad news is the Tilburg alderman Hans Kokke also achieved. “Very sad news for employees who lose their jobs,” says his spokesman.
The municipality claims to have a contract with Thebes until the end of 2015. A total of 1,400 people in Tilburg get domestic help. “The question is how it will be resolved. Tomorrow is a conversation with Thebes and in addition we will see if it can through other providers.”
Painful message
The city of Tilburg will not respond to the criticism Thebes director Verweij from the local authorities. “That is a conclusion that Thebes has pulled itself. Since I’m nothing about it,” the spokesman said.
The municipality Goirle, as she says herself, unlike other municipalities in the region properly selected for continuation of home care. The church calls the bankruptcy “a painful message for the employees of Thebes who face so close to the holidays with this message.”
“As far as residents of Goirle, the municipality will support them as well as possible,” the church says.
