Overijssel poverty has increased in many places, but the peak appears to reach. This appears from the published today Poverty Survey 2014 CBS and SCP. The latest regional figures from 2012 show that poverty is highest in Overijssel Enschede, where 12.6 percent of the population has an income below the low-income limit.
Poverty appears next to Enschede to concentrate in cities: Almelo, Hengelo, Deventer and Zwolle. Tubbergen is the least poverty as 4.3 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. Rural poverty is highest among non-Western immigrants. Nationally, 23.5 percent of this group lives in poverty.
The poverty has increased in a large part of the Overijssel municipalities. Only in Dinkelland Wierden and the number of people below the poverty line remained unchanged. Striking is the increase of thirty percent in the municipality of Steenwijkerland. A spokesman for the church today could give no explanation for the sharp increase.
