That made minister Henk Kamp (Economic Affairs) on Tuesday.
“It is a world never before happened that a wind farm can be built at such low cost,” said Kamp announcing that the Danish company Dong Energy, the wind farm may start construction at Borssele.
In total, 38 companies bid. Due to the fierce competition between companies enrolled Camp is now less funding spent on the park. “This cost represents a major breakthrough in the transition to more sustainable energy.”
Kamp and his colleague Melanie Schultz van Haegen (Infrastructure and Environment) pointed to rapidly new large offshore wind farms in 2014 three locations to be able to lay. They wanted so reduce costs. The three areas are a total of five wind farms. This year launched the tender for the second wind farm at Borssele.
It is envisaged that by 2023 all five parks are in use and provide enough energy to supply 5 million Dutch households. TenneT ensures that landed at sea generated power. Camp calculated earlier that the next fifteen years a saving of 3 billion euros.
Energy Accord
The windmills are needed to meet the commitments made in the energy agreement. It has been agreed that 16 percent of all energy in 2023 must be generated sustainably. The preferred locations for these five wind farms are located in two areas in North and South Holland after, certainly 22 kilometers off the coast.
The Dutch Wind Energy Association (NWEA) speaks of a decisive step forward for offshore wind energy hitherto invariably been seen as expensive. Dorine Bosman, manager Shell, Dong congratulates the good bid and is disappointed that Shell has not won. With Eneco and Van Oord, Shell wanted to build the windmills at Borssele.
