Swimming ban at Wassenaar – Telegraaf.nl

For now, there is a prohibition on the coast between Scheveningen and Katwijk . Beachgoers may not be ordered by the police and Rijkswaterstaat the sea. Reason is the reddish-brown substance that muddies the water there

Rijkswaterstaat is investigating what exactly the water is going. “We’re going to take a sample of the water and will then analyze what it is,” said a spokeswoman for Rijkswaterstaat. ,, The results are expected Sunday evening or Monday morning. Extensive research normally takes two days, but there’s probably something rather have to say about it.

The police think it is a ‘pest algae’ gaat.De coastguard goes out of dead algae. ,, It stinks and can be a bit sick of it. But it’s not really dangerous. This happens every summer called once. It is now only a little later because it has not been so hot, ” said a spokesman.

The red glow was first discovered in Wassenaar. People were there on the orders of the police removed from the water. Then it was also visible in Scheveningen and Katwijk.

Have you seen the red glow? Please mail them to our reporter alexander.bakker@telegraaf.nl or m.muller@telegraaf.nl

Red pest algae is caused by large amounts of phytoplankton. It may be sea sparkle but also a different kind. Some are toxic (poisonous). Good to smoothing out search so. And now no bullshit because it is such a beautiful beach day tomorrow. Shit happens.

dick65, Your statement comes closest to solving this mystery. The best of these floating on the sea dinoflagellate that this via a chemical reaction s night can light up in the surf which is a nice display and hence the name sea sparkle. The red color is caused by the pigment in the cells. In these hot days this algae bloom is very large so it looks like a large spill into the sea.

Amusing to see how many people also blame accordingly Hague shoes tries to push. But as long as they are engaged in social media I will not stop them on the street, so I’m content.

Does not necessarily have to be algae. Especially when you consider that last week a few times rained on the coast it may very well be that in the Hague drains overflowed, and then runs into the sea at Scheveningen. That happens frequently, as the water was rising this afternoon there is always the chance of that is due to the side ..

Well it is not easy to recognize a natural phenomenon, it’s just dead algae, you can have here all fields in the North Sea, like tomato soup. Something strange no, swimming in not very wise if you take a sip.

tjee Oh, there have been back a few ignorant alarmists though. This is simply because the “shit pipe” Hague has once again been open, there was a little rain in the last week and then drains can not handle so it runs into the sea. And yes, that happens every year quite a few times.

DMs with an oversized ego. There is a big difference between advice against bathing and bathing was prohibited. For me there is a negative opinion a potential risk to yourself, to prohibit you bring others in danger. For the same money, someone (for fun) lost a bag dye. I find it outrageous that there is attention paid to stroke egos and such that the PPS not immediately consider whether the ban it was legal.
