On Friday, finance ministers of the eurozone agreed on an aid package of 86 billion euro. Lagarde says to be happy with this agreement, but stressed that the Greek debt is unsustainable. The Greeks are not able to be financially sound on its own, thinks Lagarde, and therefore debt relief needed.
The IMF asked earlier for remission of Greek debt, but the euro countries do not want to know it . Jeroen Dijsselbloem stressed Friday evening that no debt will be waived.
In October, the IMF decides whether it will participate in the aid program. Then it becomes clear whether the fund will contribute 16 billion euros
