MasterCard test pay in the Netherlands through face – Standard

Credit card company MasterCard does pay a test online in the Netherlands which is the identification through facial recognition. According to International Card Services (ICS), manager of MasterCard and Visa, Netherlands is the first country where pay with face recognition is being tested in practice.

The test period runs from August 19 to November 30. At the trial can include up to 750 credit card holders of ABN AMRO. They must then download in possession of a compatible smartphone and a specially developed app.

The face detection does not happen with a photo, but with video. Users must blinking his eyes to prevent criminals there abuse it by simply holding a photograph of the lens. To protect user privacy, the images are not stored in a central database, but in the phone.
