That spoke to the president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem off in the night from Wednesday to Thursday after additional talks in Brussels.
As previously expected there was now no agreement.
Juncker Tsipras had invited with the aim of smoothing out the many months of negotiations on reforms in exchange for financial support. Even Eurogroup Chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem moved on. The inserted concert ended around 01:00.
After a brief statement was issued. “It was a good, constructive meeting Progress has been made in understanding each other’s positions on the basis of various proposals it was agreed that they will meet again Intensive work will continue….”
During the talks in Brussels, where the European Commission itself up as a mediator, were several proposals on the table. The lenders to the cautious attitude of Athens were more than enough and came up with their proposal on minimum reforms. Greece in turn also came up with a plan.
Without a compromise on further aid to Greece seems to be a collapse of the southern European country to be near. The treasury is almost empty and charged to Greece in June for approximately EUR 1.6 billion in loans to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
