Low milk prices for farmers, not for consumers – NieuwsUit.com

Despite the fact that the farmers receive less money for milk, consumers notice nothing of it.

The global milk price since the beginning of 2014 dropped by 40 percent. The EU farmers are getting paid less for their milk. Last year they could still count on 40 euros per 100 kilograms of milk, which has now dropped to 31 euros.

Although the farmers earn less milk the consumer, the not yet completely there. The milk in the shops still has the same price. This could be because supermarkets and dairy producers have long-term contracts with each run containing a specified price.

The expectation is that prices of dairy products also will come down to the consumer.
