The platform is currently being dragged from Asia to Alaska. From the Platform Shell wants early June to drill in the Arctic, says Greenpeace. The activists impede navigation, but do want as long as possible on the platform to show the world what Shell is planning. “

Faiza Oulahsen, campaign leader climate and energy at Greenpeace Netherlands, makes worried about the drilling plans by Shell. ,, Not only must keep the oil in the ground to keep climate damage in hand, an oil spill in the Arctic is inevitable. There are no proven effective methods to stop an oil spill in this sensitive area and to clean up. ”

Danger
Shell confirms Greenpeace people on the platform have climbed. They not only bring the crew in danger, but also themselves, said a spokesman. Shell is to respect opponents of energy production in Alaska in conversation and says those positions. ,, However, we reject the illegal activities of Greenpeace. ”

Experienced climbers
One of the six activists on the platform is the Australian student Zoe Buckley Lennox. ,, We are here now at 40 meters altitude and have dinner with us. We are all experienced climbers and we sit tight. Contact with the crew has not been there yet. We have seen some and they film us. Our ship Esperanza sails near ”

The protesters plan to stay on the platform until Shell ,, see that they are wrong ”

Buckley Lennox..: ,, If they are going drilling in the area, the probability of a leak is enormous. That is not to clean and provides huge environmental problems. ”
