From the social housing, which are offered by corporations, the basic rent over three years by 12 percent increased. This is evident of a research editor of Living Succinctly, the journal of the Dutch Woonbond.
The average rent of social housing increased from 503, – to 563, – Euro. The rent of the total supply, including homes that offer corporations in the private sector, above 710, – Euro, is now an average of 605.55 euros. That’s a whopping 29 percent higher than the average basic rent in the existing stock. Homes are so much more expensive as they are released.
The editor has monitored three weeks supply in eight residential regions. A comparison with the same survey from 2012 shows the increase of 12 percent. The researchers offer a distinction between (up to 618, – Euro) and duration (over 618, – Euro). Only 57 percent of the houses fell into the category of affordable and less than 43 percent in the category of duration.
No compensation through housing allowance
The rent above this limit is not compensated by the rent subsidy. “It goes fast with the demolition of the affordable housing stock. Almost half of the homes sold corporation falls into the expensive category, “says Woonbond Director Ronald Paping. “This raises the question of whether corporations are still conscious that their job is to provide affordable housing for people with modest incomes.
