‘Control drugs in Rotterdam port fails’ – NOS

Several companies in the port of Rotterdam, say that the custom containers without control passage, writes the AD. That is because there are problems with the electronic aangiftesysteem of incoming containers.

Because of those problems, there is an emergency system of power. Logistics companies must now by e-mail to make a report. They often get within one or two minutes all permission to place a container to get through. Employees of logistics companies say that the content in such a short time can never be controlled. It would be weeks so go.

The customs would due to the risk of spoilage, especially containers with vegetable and fruit fast passage to grant, and yet it is often used to drugs to hide from it. Regularly between the boxes of bananas or other tropical fruits hundreds of pounds of drugs found.

A spokesman for the customs confirms in the AD that there are problems with the aangiftesysteem. She speaks, however, against that loads uncontrolled, are allowed to pass through.

The newspaper cites a source within the customs administration that says to fear that drug offenders are aware of the problems. “Who will try to benefit from this. Additional colleagues bets can not, because there are not.”
