Heineken sees restore beer market in Europe – NU.nl

The group saw sales last six months, especially in emerging markets such as Vietnam and Mexico to grow strongly, but also in Europe ran things well.

Heineken boosted its 2 percent revenue last six months, until 10 , 1 billion. While 4 percent were sold more beer than a year earlier. This growth was mainly in the first quarter. Between April and June slowed growth down to just below 2 percent.

Net profit, adjusted for non-recurring items, decreased by 7 percent to 977 million euros. Operating profit was thereby able to grow by 1.7 billion euros 10 percent higher than in the first half of 2015. Heineken expects earnings and sales throughout 2016. The profit taking is expected to improve by around 40 basis points.

Solid quarter

CEO Jean-François van Boxmeer spoke of a ” very good ” first quarter and a ‘solid’ ‘ second. He pointed to the positive contribution from Europe, where the line is used up while keeping costs well under control.

In the months ahead, the company expects further growth despite include increasing headwinds from unfavorable exchange rate effects. In addition, it is more difficult to make progress because of the performance in the second half were very strong last year.

Brexit

Especially in Europe Heineken turned last year’s strong summer. That performance will be very difficult to repeat, said chief financial officer Laurence Debroux.

The consequences of the B rexit for Heineken not yet be estimated, according Debroux. She pointed attention that the British Heineken market largely stands alone. The beer sold in the country is largely brewed locally.

As a result, Heineken is not directly dependent on the European trade relations with Britain. Perhaps the decline of the British pound makes it more attractive to increase exports cider from British breweries, she added
