Dutch pilots EasyJet strike this morning. They lay from 06:00 to 10:00 work at Schiphol Airport in the struggle for a better collective agreement.
The pilots like sick pay, more rest between flights and better retirement. It is the second time that they put in a short time.
Travelers should consider nuisance. “We assume that seven aircraft EasyJet will not leave tomorrow morning,” said a spokesman for the union, the Association of Dutch Pilots Association (ALPA), last night. “They fly aircraft with Dutch crew.”
Strike Breakers
But, he stressed, it is possible that the management of EasyJet, like the last time foreign strikebreakers bet, making the flights still can just leave.
in recent weeks, trade union VNV tried to negotiate with EasyJet over a new collective bargaining agreement, but to no avail. According to the union, management continues stalling and does “not serious proposals.
easyJet regrets ‘unnecessary actions’
Easyjet give a declaration that they were disappointed in the actions of the CNS. “This is detrimental to our passengers traveling through the airport. We are particularly disappointed with this unnecessary action because we already significant improvements are achieved in a fair and market-based collective agreements for our pilots.”
The airline expects sure half of the flights scheduled to take place. Some flights will however be canceled because of the strike so short of announced beforehand.
More strikes on agenda
The union has already announced more actions. The coming months are expected to more walkouts. “We are determined to conclude a fair collective agreement for EasyJet pilots, even though it would mean that the conflict and the resulting disruptions caused drag on for months.”
