For several years, acting in accordance with BKR, the number of consumers with financial problems are increasing. In 2013, the increase was greatest. That year, 31 435 people in arrears on money borrowed it.
The increase in the number of problem cases increased compared to three years ago significantly, but should definitely not be underestimated according to the BKR. “The crisis has had a strong impact, but the reality is that the debt problem is increasing on a daily basis,” says BKR director Peter van den Bosch.
The BKR registers all loans and any arrears thereafter, except student loans. Late payments on mortgages are only recorded if they take up to four months or longer.
According to the BKR its arrears on loans but a small deeel a social problem. “There are many more arrears faced by consumers,” says Van den Bosch. “Think of tax debts, rent arrears and overdue premium of health insurance.”
