Winterkorn stepped in september 2015 as the top boss at Volkswagen. Just before it was revealed that the autoconcern in the United States had tampered with data for emissions from many diesel vehicles. That came thanks to fraudulent software is much cleaner off the bus at laboratory experiments than it is in practice. The affair of the company is expected to be tens of billions of euros of costs.
