Strongest decline in the unemployment rate in a decade – NOS

The unemployment rate continues to decline. In december stood 482.000 people registered as unemployed and looking for work, and 17,000 less than in the previous month. That is 5.4 percent of the workforce. “There were more baanvinders than baanverliezers” says CBS.

The declining unemployment occurs in all groups, in men and women, the young and the elderly. Compared to less unemployed and more employed people, people new to the labour market opstromen or a job search.

In 2016, the unemployment rate in ten years is not so hard, fallen. A year ago, the unemployment rate still is 6.6. The last time the unemployment rate as a sharp

drop in 2006. Especially people over 45 years old found work, there are about 110,000. Among young people ran the unemployment rate is also significantly back to the lowest level in five years.

Still, the unemployment rate is still higher than before the crisis. At the end of 2008 was only 3.6 percent are without work.
