Film.nl: the answer of the film industry on piracy – NOS

Tap the name of a movie or a tv series and you can see at a glance whether and where you have that title in a legal way can look. That’s the idea behind film.nl a new website of the film industry. That industry has been working for more than a year on the website. This is the offer of a wide range of companies such as Netflix, Videoland, Apple, big cinemas and shops such as Mediamarkt and bol.com.

“We want to make it easy for the huge demand that there is to search,” says Jaap Bruijnen of industry association NVPI. According to him, many people remain illegal movies and series look, while the last years a lot of legal offers has made. In a survey by research firm Telecompaper says more than one in three Dutch people (anonymously) and sometimes illegally, a film, series, tv shows, music, or game copyrighted to download. One in four households have a subscription to Netflix.

There are commercials on tv with famous actors such as Rutger Hauer to promote the site. The slogan of the site is “don’t look so tough.”
