Houses and cars this year, probably a little less often battered from the turn of the year than last year. This is evident from the first estimates of the association of Insurers, that the cost is estimated at about 13 million euros.
The covenant makes the estimate on the basis of the first claims that insurers since new year’s Eve track. The counter for the damage during the previous turn of the year stands provisionally at € 14.3 million, a figure that after all this time can still rise because not all the exact costs are clear right away.
Homes and cars were especially damaged by heavy fireworks, that is often illegal under the covenant. It is also of great concern to incidents involving aid workers with such fireworks are menaced.
In Nijmegen, Lent, Zaandam and Gemert are houses so badly damaged that they are uninhabitable. In The Hague doubled the number of claims due to autobranden compared to the previous year, to around 40.
In total came to Stichting Salvage, the organization of brandverzekeraars that insured persons will help in the event of fire during the new year 99 times in action. In eleven cases this was a very large burn.
