Unemployment falls below the half-million – NOS

The unemployment rate continues to decline and is below the 500,000 failed. That is for the first time since march 2012. In november, the CBS 499.000 people who were looking for work, and that is 5.6 percent of the labour force. On average the unemployment rate over the past three months, with 7,000 per month reduced.

The decline took place mainly in the education and construction companies. In the agriculture, hotels and restaurants increased the unemployment right light. The number of current WW benefits amounted to 410.000, that there are 10.000 less than in October. For young people up to 25 years, the number of benefits the strongest.

“A milestone: less than a half a million unemployed”, the minister Asscher of Social Affairs and Employment. “I’m very happy for all those people who now have a job, sometimes after a long search and often apply. This offers hope for all those people who now sit at home and so want to get started.”

The peak of unemployment was in February 2014. The netherlands had 699.000 unemployed. In almost three years time is decreased by up to 200,000. The unemployment rate rose just after the recession.

The Central Planning bureau expects that the unemployment rate next year, dropping by when the economy picks up and companies increase production and need more staff.
