The shops of Bruna are the deployment of a battle between postal operators Sandd and PostNL. Both companies want to be in branches of the chain of a desk, where people, mail and packages can retrieve or send. PostNL has all service points in a large number of branches of Bruna.
Sandd announced today a so-called ‘Bruna’ Hub ‘ to open in three hundred branches of the chain. Also DHL will benefit from that service.
Starting in January, new counters built, within a year and a half have all of the stores are equipped with. “The current service of PostNL at the Bruna shops will disappear”, says Sandd ceo Ronald van de Laar. “It would not be logical to one bar to have for two competitors.”
Shareholder
A retreat of PostNL would be remarkable, because the postal service is a shareholder in Bruna. A spokesperson at PostNL, the pronunciation of the Laar does not confirm, but also do not deny. “We are very satisfied about the collaboration with Bruna and the individual retailers, and we expect yet that in the future, it remains so.”
According to Bruna disappears PostNL at least not in the short term from the stores. “PostNL has contracts with many individual retailers. With Sandd and DHL, we are launching an independent service. They get a new counter, but eventually, all carriers who want to do from that desk to use. With PostNL is still about participation spoken,” said a spokesman.
market Share
The struggle for the post – and pakketpunten is a result of a shrinking postal market and an ever growing pakketmarkt. Carriers are trying as much as possible to gain market share. Currently, PostNL has a market share of almost 60 percent when it comes to packages, DHL is number two with 30 percent.
