News on new year’s eve: 45 journalists lose job at TMG – NOS

The Telegraph Media Group, TMG for short, was forced to lay off 45 journalistic jobs. The redundancies in the regional newspapers under TMG fall. The staff is in the week of 9 January further informed.

TMG is the parent company of brands such as the Telegraph, The Metro, GeenStijl and Sky Radio. Also the regional newspaper Leidsch Dagblad, Gooi – en Eemlander, Noordhollands Dagblad, and Haarlems Dagblad/Itself Current make part of the company.

Last summer, deleted TMG all 75 jobs in the sales department of the company. The income from ads, walk back, and also decreased the oplagecijfers light. Until the end of 2018 wants to TMG in a total of 90 million cut.

In a letter to the staff excuses the board of management for the time – new year’s eve – which these new cutbacks will be announced. Social media is outraged at the timing.
