The well-known veteran Ted Meines is at the age of 95 died. My co-founder and honorary chairman of the Foundation for Veterans Platform.
Meines was at the age of 22 active in the resistance. He helped Jewish children from hiding places and false papers. Also he spread verzetskranten such as Fidelity.
Shortly after the liberation, he reported as a volunteer to the Dutch east Indies. During a officiersopleiding in Great Britain, he was friends with prince Bernhard. Back in the Netherlands he became a trainer of other soldiers. In 1948 he moved to West Java, where he and in 1950 served.
He preserved good memories of his broadcast, he told a few years ago. “A fantastic period. I had a jeep with some gunners. The lake was a smashed restaurant, that we have built with each other. That gave a piece of connectedness that the people loved.”
