IMF wanted to, according to president Lagarde ‘mercilessly’ with Greece-report – NU.nl

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) intended with his last report on Greece “merciless” to tell the truth. That, says IMF president Christine Lagarde Wednesday in response to criticism from the Greeks to the report.

The IMF said on Monday in response to a report, as yet, not to participate in new emergency loans to Greece.

According to his own rules, the IMF cannot lend money to a country that is not a view of a sustainable level of indebtedness.

Greece found that the IMF is a “dishonest and misleading” view of the progress the country has made in reforming its economy, but would Lagarde anything to do with it.

“We recognize that some reforms are implemented, but other reforms are still planned, are not yet completed or have not yet delivered what was expected.”

His German counterpart Wolfgang Schaeuble stressed in an interview that a cancellation of debt for Greece is not an option. “That is not allowed by the rules of the treaty of Lisbon. In order to do that, Greece would the eurozone have to leave.”
