Blocker wants to 69 of 190 shops in Belgium close NU.nl

Chain store Blokker is plan 69 of 190 shops in Belgium close.

This can result in job losses of up to 302 jobs, the company Tuesday announced in a press release.

The plan shall be the company’s profitability to recover. In the last five years the turnover of Blokker in Belgium declined by 20 percent. The operating loss came in the year 2015 at eur 15 million, and for 2016 this will amount to 18 million euro.

“The market of retail sales of non-food products since a number of years, under severe pressure. This trend coincides with the strong growth of the online trading and with the increasing competition both from existing and new brands”, claims the company.
