BOVAG: Motorists catching up with repairs and maintenance – Focus on News

Amsterdam

The annual Aftersales Monitor BOVAG and RAI, conducted by research company GfK, shows the 2015 show a trend change compared to previous years. The number of maintenance times for passenger cars increased compared to 2014 by 5.2 percent to more than 14 million. Motorists seem to catch up with overdue maintenance and factory specifications better to live.

Since 2012 (14.8 million), the number of maintenance times fell sharply, to 13.4 million in 2014. the decreases were primarily attributable to the postponement of maintenance and repairs for reasons of cost. The Aftersales Monitor last year showed that once again led to higher spending breakdowns. Now that the economy has picked up, the Dutch driver appears again take better care of his vehicle. 37 percent of all maintenance and repair work was carried out in 2015 with brand dealers, 36 percent at independent dealers, 8 percent “fast fitters’ and the rest to other addresses or in-house. The total revenue from ‘aftermarket’ had since 2010 (4.2 billion euros) showed a decrease, but increased last year compared to 2014 again, by 10.6 percent to over 3.5 billion euros. This again can be seen that the consumer had more work in 2015.

Dealers and independents alike

On average, a maintenance time last year spent 249 euros against 237 euros in 2014. spending at dealerships and independent garages, moreover, lie for years about the same level. Throughout 2015 was the total per car to 525 euros on average 2.1 times maintenance expenditure, compared to the year before 480 euros. In 2010 670 per year per vehicle was issued.
