Energy company Nuon is definitely not firing coal and biomass in its Magnum power plant in Eemshaven. It reports the group after reports in Wedding
The Magnum Central consists of two parts, the first part -. A gas plant – 2013 is opened. The construction of the second part – which coal and biomass would be fired – the group previously put forward to 2020. This was done under pressure from some environmental groups, who promised in exchange for postponement to forgo legal action. Now Nuon can see all the way from from the burning of coal and biomass.
The gas plant will continue to work, but Nuon examines collaboration with TU Delft or without CO2 emissions. This should be done using a “super battery” based on ammonia. The idea of this is that wind energy is converted into liquid ammonia, which can then be used as fuel in the gas plant. In the combustion of ammonia no CO2 is released and little to no nitrogen oxide.
